Recently I become fond of this turn-based game: Unification Wars.

The galaxy is massive, wide, infinite, and unlimited space in Unification Wars. The game is about galaxy domination. Your empire starts small with only 1,000 planets (wow, got many? Hey, there are still more planets out there!). Each planet can be assigned for housing population, commerce, industry, agriculture, or mining. Each will provide accomodation(s) to your galaxy system.
This game allows you to choose from a total of 3 playable races, and an addition of 3 more races for paid account (yeah, this game also has payable account, which brings up even more ships types, expanded features, or etc.), each race has advantage. For example: Terran has more commercial yields, while Aspha Miners has more mining and taxing benefit.
To gain additional planets, which are your sources of income, activites, and thus military defense, you need to explore using available scout ships. And this can be done with just one click (one turn nets you about 1,000 planets!). Found free planets can be assigned to one of five categories above.
At the start, you will have only one planet system, but as the your progress develops, you can start additional planet systems (total has 8 common systems + 4 alien systems) which you can employ planets into. Each system has different benefit(s). For example: Dark system gives additional defense %, Capital system gives additional commerce income, Farm system gives additional food supply, etc.
Later, exploring planets will yield diminishing results. The easier way later to gain planets, is by attacking other empires which can be done easier if you enter a Federation (clan). Also, by entering a federation, you will get support from members' outposts; This feature allows clanmates to automatically reinforce other mates' defend when they're under attack, even when they're offline. The clan's leader (also known as Lords), usually has ample of credits and foods, which are vital for development for low-level players. They would help low-level players by reinforcing through fundings.
Later, when you're strong enough, you'll command massive number of fleets to conquer other empires. Combining different types of ships also affects the war outcomes. A good tactic and combination will be more effective than ships of one-type.
This game is addictive! There's startup facility for newbies and guides along the way. The missions' rewards alone are promising, enough for you to progress by yourself. Furthermore, with the help of a good federation lord, you can progress very quickly to level-up your system and creating strong army.
The server is divided into 3 game speeds, which can suit everybody's worktime:
- Real-time: Fast turn rate replenishment, low max turns bank. (for unemployed/student).
- Hourly: Medium turn rate replenishment, medium max turns bank. (for people who has internet at office)
- Daily: Slow turn rate replenishment, high max turns bank. (for people who play not too often).
